Be Fit is Massachusetts General Hospital's employee wellness program sponsored by MGH Nutrition and Food Services and The Clubs at Charles River Park.

ABOUT BE FIT

Be Fit is a 10-week program launched in 2005 to improve the health and well-being of our employees.

Employees from different departments within the hospital compete with each other as they make personal health goals ranging from adding more vegetables to meals to increasing steps.

While the program is a group competition, Be Fit is a personalized program at its core. Each team member is provided with individualized support that is designed to help develop and achieve health milestones.

Our registered dietitians help participants improve eating habits by focusing on evidence-based strategies, like enhancing meals to include heart-healthy fats, and working to develop skills that incorporate mindful eating techniques into daily routines.

Many participants are also developing exercise routines for the first time. We help employees learn how to safely and sustainably incorporate physical activity and increase strength through working with our nationally-certified personal trainers.

Participants are also encouraged to attend weekly 30-minute group meetings that are designed to demystify and debunk nutrition myths.  In addition, we host a rally to bring teams together to practice mindfulness meditation and foster friendly competition​.

Additional support includes:

*Regular (and free) access to a personal trainer to design workouts based on personalized fitness goals and lifestyle

*One-on-one nutrition appointments with a registered dietitian tailored to participants' individualized health goals and medical concerns

*Self-assessment of nutrition and exercise progress by keeping logs (a variety of options will be discussed)
